Hope you have some fun weekend plans ahead. Here are a few outfit ideas that I wore this week that work well for the office and weekend outings, depending on the plans.
Work from home days are glorious because I can be efficient and super comfortable. I give my hair and face a break, and I get to work on the couch! This time Bee worked from home too, so we had a really fun day. And fortunately work wasn't keeping me busy either....
Back to the office I went on Tuesday. Feeling inspired by Easter eggs and decorations at my family dinner I pulled out on of my favorite warm weather dresses from the Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl's last summer. Pairing it of course with cool weather items, seeing as it hasn't felt like Spring just yet. A statement necklace is always a great piece to jazz up any simple outfit. Add a pop of color and keep the rest simple.
Wednesday I was feeling bold. I've been working out 5 days a week for the last 5 weeks now and I'm starting to see very subtle changes in my body. I figure changes are changes and I'm feeling good, so why not wear a very fitted dress? Unfortunately my dress was not leather or pleather but of a polyester material instead. However it was a tri-color block pattern as this one to the left is. I wore it with a scarf, tights and boots. This is on the slightly more casual side for me at work. But sometimes it's nice to mix cute with comfort at the office.
Thursday I went for an almost monochromatic look with a tiny bit of "stone" to break it up. The Monochromatic look is very on trend this Spring. For those of you who aren't as familiar with "fashion talk", monochromatic is when you choose a color and wear it from head to toe. Instyle had a great color article this month that spoke to the look. It's not something I am overly enthusiastic about, but I like to put my own spin on things and that's just what I did this Thursday. Mostly navy blue; Blazer, Jason Wu patterned top (base color navy) and navy tights, with a stone mini skirt and metallic (pewter) ballet flats.
Friday's are "jeans" day in our office. I like to opt out of jeans but still make it a casual day. In the Fall/Winter I'm a very big fan of leggings. I just love that they slide so easily into knee high boots, they are comfortable, don't stretch out of shape, do not crease and are expandable. The perfect pant for a desk job...which I have.
Today I'm wearing my favorite black boots (Chinese Laundry from Macy's), my leggings, a cotton racer back tank top (that is long enough to cover my bum), a white blazer and floral print scarf. I'm slowly integrating my spring items into my wardrobe, which can be tricky. It's important to pull pieces that aren't too summery and can still be paired with weather appropriate items. Just because the calendar says April, doesn't mean it's sandals weather. As ideal as that would be. It's not the case here in Toronto in 2013.
